Squish

I think I'll upload my paintings soon. For EVERYONE TO SEE!

I don't paint because I'm particularly interested in visual art. It's not really my area, nor do I intend to deepen my current, pedestrian understanding of visual things. It's not a disrespect thing. I think highly of anyone who has the courage to be something more than a job monkey, who actually considers creative expression and art, in any form, an important and even primary party of life. It's simply that I consider myself a word-smith; to make my life simple (considering that I'm also a "musician" and a supposed academic of some sort) I like to stick to one form of artistic expression at a time.

That, and I'm a language person and visuals scare and baffle me.

So why do I paint?

I paint because I like the act of painting. It feels nice, and it's about the only thing I've never done with some degree of professionalism.

Also, paint is smooshy. It's also colourful. You can squish it around. I like seeing what happens to the colours when I mix them around together. It's the only thing I do that completely lacks purpose or direction.

Or maybe it's just a waste of money and art supplies.

Painting is more cathartic than artistic. Writing is cathartic as well, the difference is that writing is a concious catharsis, while painting is more instinctual and primitive.

I think painting is a way to return to being four years old again. You know, back when the world made sense.

Or maybe I'm talking B.S.

In short: Paint goes squish. A word processor does not go squish. You see the appeal.

Yay! Now we need Robin and Jones on DA! We'll be an artsy family!

Honestly though, you should take pictures of the cats and see what kind of neat photo-manipulation you can do and put them on DA. You did a good job with Jones.

Silly, the cats can't use the computer. They don't have opposable thumbs.

Do you think I should put the one I did of Jones up even though you took the picture, and what I did to it was really simple?
